Kilbourne - Mead House 1847, the oldest structure in Lansing, MI. Built in 1847 for Senator Kilbourne, who was the last and decisive vote to move the state capital to Lansing. The house and land, as well as a lucrative job working for Land Barron, James Seymour, was the enticement. At the time, Seymour owned a third of the property in the territory that would later become Lansing, Michigan and the state's capital.
